Sažetak: U radu se analizira višedimenzionalni fenomen siromaštva koji se javlja kao globalni društveni problem. Siromaštvo predstavlja složeni socijalni problem koji se ne može analizirati samo pokazateljima kao što je BDP po stanovniku, koji je najčešći pokazatelj, već u kombinaciji sa ostalim pokazateljima, koji daju realniju sliku o dimenziji i obimu siromaštva u svetu i u Srbiji. Rad ukazuje na uzroke siromaštva, geografsku distribuciju, socijalnu distribuciju i posledice koje to ima na pojedinca i društvo u celini. Važno pitanje koje autori analiziraju je korelacija između siromaštva i globalnih trendova koji su rezultat međunarodnih ekonomskih odnosa i nivoa razvoja. U radu se postavlja pitanje da li i u kojoj meri globalizacija utiče na siromaštvo i da li je ekonomski rast dovoljno sredstvo za smanjenje siromaštva.

Abstract: The paper analyzes the multidimensional phenomenon of poverty that appears as a global social problem. Poverty represents a complex social problem that can not be analyzed only by indicators such as GDP per capita, which is the most common indicator, but in combination with other indicators, which give a more realistic picture of the dimension and the extent of poverty in the world and in Serbia. The paper points to causes of poverty, geographical distribution, social distribution and the consequences it has for the individual and society as a whole. The important issue that the authors analyze is the correlation between poverty and global trends that are the result of international economic relations and the level of development. The paper raises the question of whether and to what extent globalization impacts on poverty and whether economic growth is sufficient means to reduce poverty.
