Abstract: This paper presents a model for mapping flooded areas on the example of the Sana River. The input data, which is used for the data processing model, is represented by satellite images obtained from a radar platform called Sentinel 1, by the European Space Agency. The model consists of several processing steps, where the key steps are preprocessing and postprocessing of spatial data, and the visualization of the final result. Preprocessing and postprocessing of spatial data consist of several smaller steps, the review of which is given by the authors as part of an algorithm that represents a data processing model. Validation of the applied model was performed by comparing the areas for which flood mapping was preformed and the areas where there is a larger water surface, which was floodless in a given period of time. The developed model can be practically applied in the mapping of flooded areas, as in the case of this paper the flow of the Sana Rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
